Homburger named IFLR Swiss Law Firm of the Year 2013At the IFLR European Awards, held on April 10, 2013, in London, Homburger has been granted the award "Swiss Law Firm of the Year". Read more The award reflects Homburger's involvement in some of the most demanding international finance and M&A deals of 2012, e.g. as counsel to UBS in connection with its offerings of subordinated loss-absorbing notes, as counsel to the underwriters in the IPO of EFG Financial Products Holding or as counsel to Tyco International in the combination of its Flow Control business with Pentair. Homburger received the award for the seventh consecutive year and all in all for the ninth time.
In addition to winning the national award, Homburger was also shortlisted in the category "Private Equity Deal of the Year".

Vor dem Hintergrund der AIFM-Richtlinie der EU wurden das Kollektivanlagengesetz sowie die Verordnung über die Kollektivanlagen revidiert. Ziel dieser Tagung ist es, die Auswirkungen dieser und anderer Regularien auf Private Equity-Fonds und -Fondsstukturen sowie auf Private Equity-Fondsmanager und -advisor im nationalen und internationalen Kontext zu beleuchten. Dabei stellt sich auch die Frage, wie sich die Schweiz im internationalen Standortwettbewerb für Private Equity-Fonds und deren Manager bewegt. Während der Lackmustest in der Praxis angetreten wird, werden absehbare Entwicklungen angesprochen und Probleme sowie Lösungen aufgezeigt.

Homburger appoints new counsel in the field of Banking & FinanceThe partners of Homburger have appointed Lee Saladino as counsel effective January 1, 2013. Read more The partners of Homburger have appointed Lee Saladino as counsel effective January 1, 2013. Lee Saladino is a member of Homburger's Financial Services practice team and specializes in capital markets transactions, with a focus on advising Swiss and foreign clients in connection with cross-border securities offerings and share listings on the Swiss exchange.
Lee Saladino obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia University in 1997 and a law degree (Juris Doctor) from the University of Chicago Law School in 2004. After her studies, she worked as an associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York from 2004 to 2008 and joined Homburger as an associate in 2008. She was admitted to the bar of New York in 2005.
Lee Saladino's practice draws extensively on her U.S. legal background, which primarily involved representing initial purchasers and managing underwriters in connection with Rule 144A and Regulation S high-yield bond offerings, as well as lead arrangers and administrative agents in connection with the arrangement and syndication of senior secured credit facilities (with an emphasis on acquisition financing for private equity sponsors).
Recent transactions in which Lee Saladino has been involved include advising UBS in connection with its offerings of subordinated loss-absorbing notes in February 2012 and August 2012, and Credit Suisse in connection with its offering of mandatory and contingent convertible securities in July 2012. Both new counsel are members of Homburger's Litigation | Arbitration practice team. While Melissa Magliana primarily acts as party counsel in international arbitration and cross-border cases involving the U.S., Roger Zuber specializes in state court litigation and employment law matters.
Melissa Magliana obtained a Bachelor of Arts in politics from Princeton University in 1999 and a law degree (Juris Doctor) from the Columbia University School of Law in 2004. After her studies, she clerked for The Hon. Carol Bagley Amon at the District Court for the Eastern District of New York. She was admitted to the bar of New York in 2005.
Melissa Magliana's practice focuses above all on international arbitration proceedings and cross-border disputes involving the United States. She has acted as party counsel under various rules of arbitration (e.g. ICC, Swiss, NIA) and has experience inter alia in the construction, transportation and pharmaceutical industries, as well as in shareholder and post-M&A disputes. Melissa Magliana is an active member of international arbitration associations and professional groups including the Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA), American Bar Association, and the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA).
Roger Zuber graduated from the Universities of Berne (lic. iur. 1998 | Dr. iur. 2004) and Oxford (MJur 2005). After he was admitted to the bar in 2000, he worked as an associate at a law firm in Berne. He joined Homburger in 2005.
Roger Zuber's practice focuses on domestic and international litigation and arbitration. Furthermore, he has extensive experience in rendering advice on employment law and he frequently represents clients in related court proceedings. The following year, he graduated with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Cambridge. Stefan Oesterhelt works as a tax advisor with a focus on international tax law. His areas of specialization include tax planning and structuring of finance transactions, capital market transactions and acquisitions as well as tax litigation.
