Homburger is always on the lookout for excellent and motivated lawyers as well as (future) tax advisors.
Only a select few law firms in Switzerland are in a position to offer their young associates similarly challenging and interesting work. At Homburger, you will counsel leading companies and entrepreneurs from Switzerland and abroad. In a stimulating and collegial atmosphere, you will provide our clients with creative and innovative solutions. While working within our firm you will be constantly supported by experienced lawyers and offered the opportunity to further develop your professional skills both within and outside our office.
WORKING IN PRACTICE TEAMS AND PRACTICE GROUPS
At Homburger, you do not work for a specific partner; rather, you work in the practice team of your choice. Every practice team has several partners and associates.
The practice teams are responsible for developing and maintaining a high level of professional know-how in their respective areas of commercial law and for sharing their knowledge with clients as well as with other practice teams. At Homburger, you will work above all with the members of your practice team, but have the opportunity to work with and support other practice teams on mandates requiring legal advice in your field.
Homburger has practice teams and practice groups. Our wide array of specializations allows us to efficiently and rapidly provide high-level legal advice to our clients.
Our practice teams include the following areas:
- Competition | Regulatory
- Corporate | M&A
- Financial Services
- Litigation and Arbitration
- IP | IT
In addition, Homburger also has the following practice groups:
- Employment Law
- Private Clients
- Real Estate
- White Collar Crime | Investigations
Practice teams meet on a weekly – and practice groups on a monthly – basis in order to stay up to date with the latest legal developments, case law and doctrine in their field of specialty and to further develop their know-how. In addition, firm-wide educational training in specific areas of the law is organized on a regular basis.
Most of our lawyers have completed post-graduate programs at a university in the United States or the United Kingdom (LL.M.). Many of our lawyers have also practiced abroad. We encourage our associates to further expand their legal training and earn practical experience in an international environment. In planning their stay abroad, our associates can benefit from our excellent connections with foreign universities, renowned international law firms and international clients.
We only hire legal professionals who share our values and our culture of service, and who have the potential to become a partner. Accordingly, we attach great importance to our associates and entrust them with challenging and varied client work in a stimulating and supportive atmosphere. Our working relationships are fair and straightforward. We are committed to developing in each of our associates the skills that are required to become a partner. While working at Homburger, you are supervised by a member of the partnership. Your mentor is your primary contact person and is available to discuss any issues or concerns that arise. Your mentor will also present you with your annual assessment, prepared by the partnership as a whole. After five years, the partnership will decide whether an associate will be offered partnership. If an offer is made, the associate will be made partner after a total of seven to eight years at the firm.
Associates who do not become partners with our firm generally lead successful careers as in-house counsel or become partners with other law firms. Several of our former associates have also excelled in academic careers.
After receipt of your application, we will schedule an interview, at which three partners will be present. Should your application follow a positive course, we will invite you to a second interview, after which you will also have the opportunity to meet some of our associates in an informal setting.
We look forward to receiving your application (including a curriculum vitae, a copy of your university degree and references). Please send your application to:
